BIOGRAPHY

Chi Kit graduated from the Singapore Management University in 2017 and was called to the Singapore Bar in 2018.

He has acted for clients in a wide range of contentious and non-contentious matters including building and construction disputes, adjudication proceedings under the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act 2004, MCST matters, shareholders’ disputes, employment disputes, landlord-tenant disputes.

Some cases in which Chi Kit has been involved include:

  • Acting for a Taiwan listed company in a derivative action in relation to a joint venture, and also in a separate action to enforce a Taiwan judgment in Singapore.
  • Acting for a Singapore real estate developer against claims by a UK branded interior design company for alleged breach of contract and alleged procurement of judgment by fraud.
  • Acting for meat supplier in Singapore High Court claim for property damage caused by construction activity at neighbouring premises.
  • Acting for exhibition organiser as defendant in claim by main contractor, resisting summary judgment and counterclaiming for defective work.
  • Acting for subsidiary proprietors in a highly contentious MCST dispute in relation to unauthorised installations on common property. In addition to the civil disputes, this also involved criminal law as clients were also charged in a private prosecution and were acquitted after trial in the State Courts.
  • Acting for MCST in Singapore High Court claim against developer and contractors for common property defects.
  • Acting for MCST as defendant in claim by subsidiary proprietor in District Court for injunction to close basketball court due to noise.
  • Acting for respondent in an SIAC arbitration involving claims for payment and counterclaims for defective works in relation to railway depot equipment.
  • Acting for respondent in an SIAC arbitration involving claims of fraud and incomplete works in relation to facilities management contract.
